The online gallery features Effacing Memory (2013) by Milan-based artist Anila Rubiku (born 1970; Durres, Albania). Blending drawing, performance, and social practices, Effacing Memory is part of a larger project in which the artist laboriously renders and then erases the visages of famous dictators. In this film, we see Rubiku in the process of erasing her drawings; an attempt to have art “fight back” against the memory of oppression.
